It's taken all my will power not to comment on this q.
Have you looked at The Lady magazine? They have ads and also links for au-pairs.

we used Au-pairs before our kids were old enough to go to school, as mentioned above we found the first one through the The Lady magazine, after that it was friends of the incumbent Au Pair who stepped in, this went on for 5 years. All in all a successful outcome for the situation we were in at the time but i have heard of some horror stories.
