hi, I had a really good 4 days travelling around Salento, I really liked Lecce and the historic centre is fabulous. We also went to Otranto, Gallipoli, Brindisi and we stayed at a little place called Porto Selvalgio. Fabulous scenery, some amazing beaches (albeit water a bit cold still). Loads of things to see, castles, churches, abbys and the fortified farms. On the downside some of the places we passed through looked very quiet, particularly on the coast just south of Brindisi, and I did wonder whether some of the other places may get overun with tourists in the summer (perhaps someone who lives down there can comment?). Eating out was pretty cheap and I even saw a little black snake whilst jogging in the woods.

In sum, a very very nice area - well worth a look.
