abruzzo town info
Hello,
We are coming to the Abruzzi in May next year in order to look at some towns where we can eventually buy a permanent home. We shall only have about a week to look around and wonder if anyone can suggest good towns or big villages which have facilities such as bars, shops and restaurants and where it might be possible to find a detached house with garden but at a reasonable price. Important is that we do not want mountains. Ideally, somewhere just inland of Pescara, Ortona or Vasto. We have thought of Lanciano, Chieti, Ortona. Any other suggestions or comments.

Lanciano is a great town, but if you're looking for a detached house with a Garden, you are probably better off looking in the countryside and villages rather than towns.

Hi
If you want to be near the sea you will have to pay the price for that luxury. The further inland you go, the more reasonable the prices. It might be worth googling some of the many estate agencies that specialise in the area so that you have more of an idea of what your money will get you. I know my partner and I had a low budget and in the end we had to make compromises on what we could get for our money.

Hi, I've just been to Penne and stayed in a great apartment right in the centre with fantastic views. It was easy to get to Pescara from there, the views reached down to the sea, and you could see the mountains without being in them.
I participated in the events for New Year including the arrival of the good witch La Befana, and they had this amazing show, it was the reinactment of the arrival of the three kings in a stable in the countryside, they had horses animals and everything, the locals were so welcoming.
The reason I write all this is to get across how this town was charming, but had it's act together for living and tourism. I'm certainly looking at buying there. It's well worth a look.
