Question about It jobs and qualifications
Hi there I would appreciate any advice people on here could give me. I am looking into emmigrating with my family to either Australia or Canada (yet to be decided but we are leaning towards Canada.
I am an IT support consultant with over 5 years experience at first to third line support. I currently work with server 2003, xp, lotus notes, backup exec, lan and wan equipment. Basically everything involved in supporting a medium size international company. I currently earn just under £30k for an indication of the level.
My question is about qualifications, although I have plenty of experience currently I have no quals and don`t have a degree, I am working towards getting a CCNA and a couple of MCP's. Is this going to be a major problem for me? Do i really need to push to get some IT quals or is the experience I have going to count over there?

Re: Question about It jobs and qualifications
I think you should be alright once you have the certs, since the CCNA and MCPs will qualify you as a trade professional anyway whereas a Comp sci or IT BA would not, but I too would appreciate a solid answer to this question since I am sort of in the same boat.
