If there is a Brexit vote (and the government votes to follow it) there is a 2-year period (after the date on which notice is given to leave) during which the EU rules will still apply and it is during this period that alternative arrangements will need to be made.
That's the problem. No one knows what they are voting for as no treaties have been signed.

If all will be resolved in 2 years after 'alternative arrangements' are made...why vote now?
Why not negotiate those 'alternative arrangements' first then inform the voters so they don't vote for a 'pig in a poke'.....that

Odd that little 'ol me brought up this subject a month ago and, with just over a month to go, no-one is any wiser.
Don't UK politicians read this forum???

This really is a 'pig in a poke' referendum that will resonate for a generation.
