Default Wanting to get a PIO card from the UK

I was born in the UK, and grandparents born in India. Parents born in East Africa.

I have all the links to my grandparents but the only proof I have of my grandfather born in India is on his UK death certificate. Does anyone know if this will be enough?

You will need something from India to prove his Indian origins, birth certificate, school certificates etc. What happened to his Indian passport? Or documents from arrival in E. Africa?

No one seems to be able to trace them. I have a photocopy of my maternal grandfather's Indian passport, but I'm told its the paternal side I need.

If you look at the High Commission instruction sheet, it refers to "either of his/her parents, grandparents etc".
I would think though that you need to gather as much evidence as possible and make an appointment rather than do everything by post.
I only have personal experience of OH who was born in India, maybe others can help further.
