Work refs

Work refs
Any advice/experiences please?
We are applying under the 495 SIR visa.
We do not want to alert our employers to our migration plans, in case we don't get the visa (we look fine on paper but you never know). Are DIMIA likely to contact employer?
Also, while we can get standard refs from work (job title, salary, time in position, etc) our employer will NOT list five main duties in the reference as required by DIMIA. Is there any flexibility from DIMIA here or are we stuck?

I work for a mid size company about 250 employees and I got HR to do reference. THe first time they never put in enough info and it was sent back from CO saying it had to be in this format. I had to send HR a list of duties, can you not try this? The HR woman did ask what it was for but it never went any further.
