Default Work experience waiver for 885

Hi, does the work experience waiver for 885 recent international graduate students apply only if we apply for the 885 within 6 months of our course completion? What if we apply for a 485 - skilled graduate) visa and then if we apply within the 18 months of the duration of the 485, are we still eligible to apply for an 885 with the work experience waiver or do we need to have work experience in this case?

Hi Everyone

I am new to site , however i have read many useful informations from this site.

I would like to ask some information. any one who knows any information about this queries can please help me

I have two years of experience in (C/C++/C#). My skills were assessed as a recent graduate with one year experience in (C/C++/C#) ASCO 2231-79(C/C++/C#). I have applied for my 885 now i am under priority 4 as there is no MODL

How is ASCO 2231-79(C/C++/C#) related to in ANZSCO code, what ANZSCO code is it equal to

I want to know if there is any process where i cn speed up my application process, wht are my best options. I want to apply for ANZSCO code under Group A, am i eligible for it, if yes what ANZSCO should I apply for I have two years experience now

What are my chances for State Sponsorship

Regards
Naveen

I am pretty sure that you had to EITHER have finished your course within 6 months, OR been on a 485 visa.
The 485 visas seem to be taking at least a year to come through, so I assume that means that you would have to wait for the 485 visa to be granted before being able to apply for the 885, which could slow you down somewhat, depending on your situation.

Thanks. That was really helpful. However, I just can't seem to find the particular section on the DIAC website that says that the work experience waiver will apply for 485 graduate skilled visa holders. I just found the part where it says work experience waiver applies if students apply within 6 months of their course completion. I have already applied for an 885 but I am wondering if it would be a good idea to re-apply for an 885 once the SMP is out. I will be getting my 485 skilled graduate visa around August 2011 since I applied for it early August 2010. So, I will have to wait until August 2011 to apply for state sponsorship for an occupation on the State Migration Plan. Would this accelerate the process or would it be better to leave my current 885 which I applied for late August 2010 and sit it out and wait. It's very confusing what to do since the SMP is not out yet. I am just worried that I might have to wait for 2 years and then by then if my occupation is removed from SOL schedule 3 -currently my occupation is on it) then my application would go to the bottom of the pile and the wait for it will be forever. Does anybody have any clue how long it would take for a case officer to be allocated for someone who has applied for an 885 after 1 July 2010. I applied for the 885 late August 2010. Sorry, if I am repeating myself but there is so much uncertainty and it is quite stressful to even think about it. Anybody out there who has applied for an 885 visa after 1 July 2010? Please share your experiences with us.

I would just sit tight! I certainly wouldn't be cancelling the application you have in.

I applied for my 485 visa at the beginning of March. A month or two later they changed the list of jobs that they were allowing to apply for the 885 visa, taking mine off it. They then said that anyone who had applied by the 8th of February for the 485 would still be able to apply for the 885.

What happens if they do the same again? You cancel one application, make the next one, and then something changes and it is backdated, so you then miss out on the new application and have cancelled a perfectly good one which would have been fine. I would NOT take that chance.

No problem. Do you mind me asking why you are so keen to get your visa asap??

Have you thought about employer sponsored visas?? They are the quickest ones.

Oh well, I am just nervous coz the immigration rules keep changing so quickly. I am worried that there might be another drastic rule-change with priority processing and I might end up at the bottom of the pile. Also, I just want to get on with life, buy a house as soon as I get my 885 granted and errr... I dunno hehe. There's so much I want to do. Right now, everything is so uncertain with the 885 hanging there in limbo. I heard that it was hard to get an employer to sponsor you for an ENS. So, I am not even considering taking that route.

What occupation are you in? And what area? If you are in one of the 'regional' areas there is the RSMS visa too.

Although any priority changes might slow you down, if they do what they did before and backdate changes except for people who have already applied, you could loose all chance of being able to stay.
I totally understand the wanting to get on with your life and buy a house etc, but personally the only way I would apply for another visa would be an empoyer sponsored one. It is just not worth the risk of any changes meaning you loose your chance to stay otherwise.

Oh well, that's true. My occupation is accountant - general. I have a feeling there are too many applicants who have applied under accounting. Not really good news, is it? ... and I have a feeling that accounting will be removed from the SOL soon. I dunno why but I just get that feeling. Anyway, too late to change occupation now. I don't want to live in a regional area. I just don't. Errm! All I can do now is sit and pray

Sorry but I don't have anything against regional areas but I am very much a city person. I hope you understand. I wouldn't mind living my whole life in a small city like Adelaide but not some place like Karratha or Alice Springs or... I dunno... I should stop coming to this forum. It's addictive.

Well, at the moment you can work for employers, once they have you, if they like you, it wouldn't be THAT hard to get them to sponsor you. (my employer is trying to sponsor me at the moment, so it does happen, in Adelaide for the rsms visa).

Dont worry too much about it being taken off the list, as they have let people still apply who's application was in before the latest lot came off the list. -other than me as although I applied before it was anounced, it was after the cut off date that the retrospectivly added. Which is why I would never consider re-applying.
Good luck.

Oh you are lucky! The current waiting time for a person in my occupation is 18-24 months with IELTS over 7. I guess, I should be grateful that I am not in category 4. I didn't know you could get regional sponsorship for Adelaide. Isn't Adelaide like a city? Sorry, maybe I am just ignorant. Also, from what I have heard, there are so many strict rules that employers have to follow in order to sponsor someone for an ENS. Also, isn't there like a minimum work experience component as well? I don't think I'll qualify for an ENS any time soon with the strict work experience rules. It would take me ages to get the required work experience.

I am not so sure about ENS, but RSMS there is no work experiance requirement.
Most of the country is counted as regional really, other than the big cities like Perth, Sydney and Melbourne, a few more in NSW. Adelaide is counted as small lol.
If it is a genuine job, and they will give you a contact then rsms visa should be pretty simple for you. Accountants are hard to find in Adelaide so I hear...
