Hi there

I know that feeling well! Have applied for 886 Dec 08 (family sponsored) stuck in queue but heh ho, we moved up from the bottom rung today and now up there with the modl folks! (still no chance of visa tho till end of 2011- which is a bit of a nightmare with school fees to pay and one due to start in 2011) !

Good luck with it all, I hope you're in a better position than me.

x

Hi, one person from the mba course has just had PR granted. Course finished March this year, and 885 applied for then. Don't think it will help me as he was also a secondary school teacher who did the course to gain the extra points. Still at least it's a success story.

This announcement has caused us massive confusion today, we are currently on a student visa (family of 4), course finishes in december, so was firstly considering the 487 provisional, as our cousin could sponsor us and also prior to today, priority processing of approx 5 months we were advised. We also considered the 485 graduate or 885 pr, but advised under these visa's which will take over a year to process further school fees, but now it appears know matter what we apply for its going to be a long wait until around 2012 and possibly school fees for yet another 2/3 yrs which we honestly can not afford..

At this stage, we dont know whether its best to pack-up, try for the 487 or 485 or 885, but either way its going to be another long killer in the waiting game..

Good luck to everyone...

Am confused as to where the changes announced today leaves those of us who have already front loaded 885/886 visas. Are any of us any further forward in the quest for PR? as only the 485 is mentioned, or have I missed something.
Be interested to hear others' thoughts, but suspect the wait will just go on and on.
Meanwhile getting more than fed up with being rejected for job after job as the first question now is what is my immigration status, then sorry no PR then no chance. No-one it seems is interested in or understands bridging visa A's full work rights. Limbo land sums it up!

Thanks Shears, are you hopefull that 885/886 visas will be looked at sooner now?
What confuses me is that priorites are listed for the 485 visa, do they apply to 885/6 as well? Hope so as I will move up to 3rd place. Have googled but nothing new on gov web site yet.
Wish everyone on the student route good luck

Carlton Colds - we're in the exact same position. Seems so unfair to those of us with children here that these things are so out of our control ... we've been paying these International school fees for 2 years now, and it's just about stretched us to the limit.

hiya shears, I fully agree its disgusting really that we are forced into paying those wonderful fees for another 2-3yrs. I understand the benefits of priority processing, but its amazing how it takes 2-3yrs to process when you are already onshore, already completed the qualification, got employment but still poxy restrictions.

I honestly dont know whats best, the kids love their school and enjoy the lifestyle and sports etc, but its going to be really hard finding another $30k-$40k over the next 2/3 yrs...

I wonder if there is some sort of waiver from the education authorities, as surely you can argue that you have paid fees for 2-yrs whilst on student visa, but given the delays by immigration its unreasonable to request families to pay for a further 2/3 yrs, although I bet the view is tough, pay or leave the country....

Hi Guys,
My wife finished college in June and applied for 485 graduate visa ,lodged 7th July. She needs the extra points. We are still paying school fees (2 kids) on the bridging visa A .Had to fill all the same paperwork again for the kids to stay at same school and pay $110 each for admin charges as Qld Education say they have to re-register as it's a different visa,WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!! Just another money making scheme.
Who knows how long, until we get 485 visa. If we hadn't spent so much money and effort in already we would be heading back to the UK ,but can't give up now,but havn't got much left to keep paying school fees for ever.
Good Luck to everyone,
Jumpy

We applied for an 886 modl in January so we are on a bridging visa, according to the DIAC website we are going to be stuck on this visa until at least the end of 2011! great, it means we have to pay every time we leave the country and not many places will give a temporary visa holder a job and we can't plan to build a house as there are no guarantees we can stay and we can't get the 1st time buyers allowance. For people thinking of heading over here to study I would definately advise to study in the UK and get your experience there as its just a big money pit to try over here.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share some news with people who are waiting for their 885 visa to come through. Spoke to my agent 2 days ago and got told that DIAC is reserving places in the Migration Program for people whose nominated occupation is on CSL. He said that DIAC still grants 885 to applicants (not on CSL) but only for a very limited number and it is likely that any unused quota will be given to 885 applicants (not on CSL) just before the end of financial year in June 2010.

News anyone?
