Hi Scampie,
we're in the same boat, we spoke to an agent for a free consultation, they are good..we were told and TRA site seems to confirm that we should go for metal machinist first class...however apparently TRA can put you into a different catagory, I.E. toolmaker if they want to...
weve done TRA covering everything but made sure the most recent/current employment ref states that he is a metal machinist (in brackets put CNC setter operator & programmer) and made sure every else has refererred to 'metal machinist' in their references.
i think weve gone a bit OTT with describing how to set up every machine ever worked on etc...in own terms not text book...but again weve been told you cannot include too much info...
hope this of some help.

On your employer referances did you put the detail in there about how to set up each machine for diffferent jobs etc. Also did you have any trouble asking your present employer for a referance as then they know you intend to leave. some employers get funny when you want to leave? any help would be gratefull.

Hiya,
We did a couple of the references ourselves and just got them signed, saved alot of time and made sure the info was in them..other refs we listed what had to be included, and gave examples...employers did us proud..
we havnt told the current big boss...just his line manager who is really suportive about it and said he wishes he'd done it himself...
