My understanding is that if you are UK born and english is your first language you dont have to do IELTS and you get 15 points. However if you need to claim full 25 points then you must sit IELTS and score 7's to get full points. But I'm new to all this so I might be wrong.................

It's not easy to answer this question in general. There are sooo many options. Better read yourself on DIAC website and find your personal answer.
