Default state sponsor

are you allowed to apply for more than one state sponsor and then pick which one you want to go to or do you have to pick 1 state and apply to that one?

What happens if each state finds out about the other application ... will they still think you are serious about living there?

Don't stress. I suspect JAJ is just winding you up.

I very much doubt that public servants (don't you just love that terminolgy?) are going to be sitting down and playing the bureaucratic equivalent of Snap with applications for State sponsorship.

Much better, and quicker, is to sit down with a RMA, detail your situation and seek their advice as to which State to apply to for sponsorship with.

Alternatively look at each State and Territory website and see which ones are prepared to sponsor someone in your situation.

It depends on how busy you are. Are you prepared to spend money to save time and also get a considered, professional opinion?

It was a semi-serious point. Without being familiar with the application forms and processing culture of the different States/Territories, I was suggesting that it would be valid for a state government to ask a question of this nature.

A start point might be to look at which states one is eligible for sponsorship from, and then decide which one is most preferable.

It is a complex (and frequently changing) area and working on a professional basis with an RMA who is familiar with state sponsorship (some RMAs do a lot of work in this area, others don't) can add a lot of value.

Do you take their (RMA) word for it this is their area of expertise or can you find out any other way which ones specialize in what?

What they say could depend on how much they want your work and in a minority of cases may not be totally accurate. (once bitten!)
