Is this right?
I have been told that if your on a SIR Visa you are only allowed to work in your particular trade (i.e as a dental technician on a SIR Visa I must work as a dental technician in regional Australia) however, I've just read this on the DIMIA website? Anyone know whats going on?
Q. How do you show that you have been employed in regional Australia for at least 12 months?
A. If you are a Skilled Independent Regional (Provisional) (subclass 495) visa holder applying for one of the permanent visas listed above, you need to show that you have been employed, including self employment, in regional Australia or a low population growth metropolitan area for at least 12 months.
There is no restriction on the type of work that you may undertake. The only restriction is that the employment:
be 'full-time' and undertaken in a regional or low population growth metropolitan area in Australia.

State governments may set additional criteria for STNI sponsorship (if they wish).
