Default question regarding IELTS test for grant of Student Visas

I hope someone knowledgable can answer my query.

I am applying for a Masters program in Oz, and fall under Assessment
Level 3. Both my secondary and undergraduate degrees were received
from 'English only institutions' in the US. The overseas student
booklet does not mention any exemption for those who have received
degrees with English as the only language of instruction for their
prior degrees. The funny part is, although I fall under assessment
level 3, my flency is in English only. Am I required to undertake the
IELTS test before lodging the student visa application?

TIA.

Hi Sid,

Your flency is not in question; but I would certainly contact your nearest
Australian mission for guidance. It will depend on the rules and processing
culture where you lodge your application, of course...

Cheers

You are absolutely right George. That is exactly what I have been
trying to do. The only problem is the Embassy in Washington neither
answers their phone nor their e-mail. It has been over 10 days; I am
not sure how much time I should allow them in returning a simple
response as opposed to going ahead and taking the IELTS.
