Default PR Today- Our Story

Today we were notidfied that PR had been granted. Hopefully our story will
be of assistance to some and illustrate to others that there are options
other than the conventional route - especially if one of you is a nurse or
can get employer sponsorship.

April 02 - Looked at emigration options and decided on Western Australia,
Perth
Contacted hospitals and asked if any would sponsor application for 457 Temp
Visa (2 yrs)

May - After telephone interview and CV check sponsorship offered by
hospital.

Jun-Jul - Skills check and acceptance by Nurses Board WA. Temp visa (457)
applied for

Aug - 2 yr visa granted

Nov- Arrived Perth, sorted housing, schools, cars etc..

Jan - Started work

April 03- Hospital agreed to sponsor for PR (originally they had said that
they would consider this after 12 months but this internal guideline is
frequently broken)

May 03 - PR application submitted in Perth
5 weeks 2 days later, application accepted, GOT IT!!

This route is by no means unusual. We have met several families who came
over within the last year and have done the same, all being granted PR
pretty quickly, some under 1 month.
Even had we decided to go the General Skilled route, this would not have
been possible due to insufficient recent work experience. Hope this is
useful for those looking to avoid the horrible waiting game.
Have not posted before but found the site really useful when researching our
move so this is our "pay back".

The advantage of this approach has been that we have kept house etc.. in Uk
as safety net incase we either didn't want to stay or were refused PR.

Prior to arriving in Nov we had never beento Australia before and wondered
what all the fuss was about. Now we know - it's bloody marvellous. Stick at
it ,it's worth the wait . If they made it easy there would be no-one left in
the Uk when word got around. Good luck to you all.

What a nice read.

So pleased that you have settled out there and been granted your PR.

How are you finding the nursing?.
Is it much different from UK?

All the Best

Diane
