Default Postgraduate education and job searching

Dear friends,

I have one question, let say a dilemma, and want to share it with you, because probably some of you had similar one, or have some particular experience regarding that.

So, the question is:

Is it useful to have postgraduate education (MSc or PhD) in engineering while searching for a job in Australia?

I am asking this because we have granted BN136 Visas and now I am doing my PhD studies in Material Science, I am a Mechanical Engineer with MSc in CIM systems, my wife is a Chemical Engineer with MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology, and I am wondering is it worth to spend 2 or three years more before moving to AU finishing that PhD.

As I have seen on some job seek sites, only Engineers are wanted.

If anyone have a comment, an opinion, experience, advice... I will be very grateful for any word.

Thank you in advance!

Regards,
