Default Police Checks Abroad

Hi guys
I am currently in process of sorting police checks. I have been living in spain for past year and i am finding it difficult to get my police checks done i was talking to a girl yesterday and she told me she didnt bother with a spanish police check she just had an english one even though she had lived in spain for 6 years. What do you guys think?
thanks

Hi chrisandvee,

I would think that they will probably look for spanish police checks if you have lived there for the last six years, but I am no expert on this.

We've been living in Ireland for the past six years so will have to get police checks from Ireland, and I assume the UK as we lived there before that. We were also in Oz on working holiday visas, and I don't know whether we need to get police checks for that as well (will have to speak to our agent).

This visa application lark certainly keeps you on your toes!

certainly does dolly we have just been told by our agent that she isnt gone send our visa appllication off to dima until 1st april as we didnt specify when in march we started jobs last year so she dosnt want any problems with applications. So instead of being a feb applicant we are now looking at april. Never mind i just hope we are out there for xmas as we are gonna book the dog out for then. I cant wait

You will need an Aussie police check if you have spent a total of 12 months or more in Aus.

I would definitely not recommend this unless it was more than ten years ago. As stated on form 47P available from www.immi.gov.au: "Please check the list of countries and areas below. If you have lived in any one of them for a total of one year or more in the last 10 years, you must get a police certificate from the authorities in that country or area." The form includes details for Spain and incidently informs that there is no fee involved. Good luck!
