Police Checks....
The agent said
"take it to your local police they check documents and send it off"......
The Police said
" no.......send it to the MET Police as it's nowt to do with em"
So it's back to sending originals or certified documents to prove your identity.
Oh.....well at least we know how to do that...we've had loads of practice..

Re: Police Checks....
You will need to return your form - and ID - to the address on the S Yorks wensite -
http://www.southyorks.police.uk/foi/data_protection/
Audit and Data Protection Unit,
Police Headquarters,
Snig Hill,
Sheffield
S3 8LY
Its quite feasible that your local station hasn't had to deal with Data Prot queries before. DO NOT send it direct to the Met, as this will slow do the process - they will have to return it to Sheffield for recording and verifying there, and because the payment goes to S Yorks police.
If you have any more problems ring police HQ in Sheffield and speak to the Data Protection office.

It actually says on the form in block capitals, do not send originals.

Re: Police Checks....
We just visited our local station, showed our original documents and the police woman filled in the forms, verified she had seen the documents and sent the forms off. Hey presto 3 weeks later the checks came back.

All forces make their own rules - some are happy with copies, and some want the originals. Make sure that you read the rules for the specific force with which you are dealing!
