Default Moving to Oz with an 18yr old child..

Have already asked this question elsewhere but need some more answers.

We are about to start our application, but last week one of the kids turned 18. He is hoping to remain in education, but do any of you guys know of the problems this could cause us?

Would appreciate your views.

On the visa appl form you have to list all dependant kids that are over 18 & I know that full time education is defo one of the categories. I guess so long as you say he is continuing hi education it will be fine.

The Skilled Migration Booklet has information on dependency, which you should read. Once a child turns 18 it's up to you to prove dependency.

DIMIA like to see the child in full time education, and not working. Being engaged/married/de-facto is a no-no.

And dependency must be proved right up to the day your visa is *granted* (and preferably until it's validated). There have been cases where 18+ year olds have left full time education in anticipation of visa grant, and then they have been refused a visa as part of the family unit.

So be careful.
