Please help getting confused.
We are trying to complete the usual information as i am going over on a prospective spouse visa, my oh already lives in Oz.
hopefully all that is left is a couple of signatures to get, and my medical.
my chest x-ray is booked for thursday this week, and my medical in a couple of weeks time.
when i booked the x-ray today she was very reluctant that the forms had not already been sent off, saying i should wait to hear from immigration and for them to tell me to go ahead and get them done.
as per advice already given and by coming on here, i see that almost everyone gets it done beforehand and sends it all in together ????
feel like i'm getting streesed already, i'm moving out of my present accomodation only renting thankfully and will be moving in with my mum in April and will be there until i go !!!, so already trying to sort things out from that point of view as well.
lastly before i bore you to death i have been on anti-depressants for the last few years after my divorce, and am gradually being weaned off of them now , but notice in the medical check that you have to say whether you are taking any medication, which i still am. is this likely to cause any problems ?
Thanks all in advance, just need reassuring i supppose

Hi Tearose
We have had a similar thing with the police checks as we sent those with the original form but when they process your application, the dates the checks are valid from affect the date you have to be over there by if accepted. You get a year from the date of police clearances and I believe its the same for medicals. (Plus they cost quite a bit!)
So worst case I guess they could accept you and tell you you have to be there within a few weeks! If you're flexible enough to just up and go anyway I don't think it would be a problem, we're having to get new police checks as we don't now have enough time before our Entry Date to sell the house, etc. All the dull stuff!
And I wouldn't worry about the anti-depressants, I went to our medical with a chest infection and was paranoid he'd just reject me on the spot but they're looking for more long term things that will cost them money by the sounds of things. You'll not need them anyway when you're out with your fella
Best of luck with it anyway.

The waiting time for this kind of visa is usually very short, so any chance that you'll have to re-do them are very slim.
Lots of people have got in with depression related illnesses, and providing it's not extreme I'd say you'll be fine.

It's usual to send in your medicals and police check with this type of visa. The doctors won't really have much knowledge of the different kinds of visa processes, so don't worry too much about it.
