Default plant operator not recognised???

I already have my PR visa and plan to be in Perth next week. Im asking this question on behalf of my brother who is thinking of coming out next year and possibly looking for sponsorship. He is a licenced plant operator in this country driving 360 excavtors wheeled and tracked.
After a quick search on here and elsewhere it seems that this occupation is not recognised on the sol? Is this right?

If it is does this rule out sponsorship?

Thanks in advance for any help or advise.

regards

Chris

Hi Chris,
Have a good look on the list.
My husbands occupation just didnt tie in with anything on there at all,
but we looked at it all and the descriptions and we came up with a trade that was MODL and passed TRA!!

Check out the discriptions as what is expected of one occupation may be called something different.

My hubby is a template maker and is was classed as a toolmaker!!! hes never made a tool but used the same machines.

Best of luck
Hilary

Thanks for the reply Hilary,

ASCO code for this occupation is 7111 Mobile plant operator, and the job description for that code is bang on. Its just not on the SOL.

Does this mean no chance of employer sponsorship?

The list is due to be updated in March/April so keep an eye on it. Also have you looked into other types of visa. There may be something else he could apply for. What about if you sponsor him. I don't know of the time-scales that you have to be resident so you would have to look into it a bit.

Hope you sort something, good luck x
