Hello fellow members,
Wondered if anyone can provide some guidance on a question I have about my Father's parent visa 884 which is still being processed - he is on his bridging visa and none of the grant notification letters state any inclusion/exclusion on his ability to use Medicare.
I checked on the IMMI website however I do not see any info on this either and wanted to see if anyone here can shed some light on the matter?
Thanks always!

Bridging visas do not come with a right to Medicare. Unless he is from a country with reciprocal agreement, then he will need private insurance and rely on paying for healthcare.

Respectfully ... you brought your aged father to Australia and you don't know whether he has access to public healthcare?
Isn't this an issue that should have been considered before he came to Australia?
Is your father aware of the position?
Best regards.

If your bridging visa is associated with a visa application for permanent residency then you are eligible for Medicare.
But as 884 is a temporary stay visa, the bridging visa doesn't give Medicare access.
Time to go buy some insurance...

Happy to see evidence to the contrary, but I think you'll find this comment isn't correct.
The requirement for Medicare when on a BV on the basis of an onshore parent visa application is to have come to Australia from a country that has a RHCA with Aus.
Best regards.
