Default NZ job offer

I hope someone can help with this - i have used the quick points
calculator and scored 100 without a job offer, and i am going for a
holiday in Jan to NZ - should i wait to get a job offer before
submitting - i have a friend who will jack me up a job in Jan - or
should i submit now?

how long does the process take, from submission of interest to approval
and residents permit?

Thanks in advance

Ian

Ian,
I suggest you apply **now** as the pass mark *might* change by Jan. Raising
the pass threshold has been rumored for a while now. If you have the chance
to go now, grab that chance, don't bu**er about. Are you absolutely sure
about the 100 points you have? As long as you are, get that application in.
You can always add a job offer to the application later if it becomes
necessary.

Depending on a job offer from a friend is risky as your friend will more
than likely need to justify why the job should be offered to you as opposed
to a local. The justification process can be involved and they might not be
aware of this. If it fails to impress the NZIS, and you find yourself later
depending on those points, you might have lost the chance of getting in.

It depends on the number in the pool at the time. Some people have have
been fortunate, others not so fortunate. I'd be surprised, as long as all
goes smoothly, that come January you aren't going to NZ with a nice shiny
visa in your passport!

All the best, let us know how you get on.

I heartily concur with the above. You can organise your medicals and
police certs in the UK and get the application in as soon as you get an
ITA. Rather than the doubt of changing EOI points scores it doesn't
matter if you have 100 or 10000, its the value on the day of the draw
that matters.

Its also a lot easier to apply for a job either knowing that you have
PR or being able to tell your future employer that the process is in hand.

Go for it!!!
