No confirmation yet
After three and a half months of waiting, there is still no
confirmation letter from DIMIA. Was anybody in the same situation. I
sent couple of e-mails already and got only one reply that I will be
getting the confirmation letter in one-two weeks time. But that was a
month ago and still nothing. I am from Yugoslavia and application is
in skilled independent category (IT). What to do ???? To phone them or
just keep sending emails to them ???

I had the same problem: my application arrived, but the letter of acknoledgment was lost by the postal services of my country. After 1,5 months, I called DIMIA and they re-emmited a letter of acknolegment as the first one was apparently lost.
If you prefer not to call (as it is recommended), you could send DIMIA an email and simply say that you have not received the letter of ack yet, and that you are worried it could be lost.

Well I sent them 5-6 e-mails but they responded only once and that was
a month ago. Now it is almost 4 months and I am not getting anything.
I know that they received the application cos it went through the
courier. But since that I sent the bank check there is no way I can
see whether they cashed the check or not.

We posted our application in July 2001, we didnt get confirmation till Sept 2001. I guess they just sit in a big pile gathering dust till they work their way throught them.
