Thank you, and that's the reason why I am preparing a new assessment. My only issue is what code to go for as I'm now basing my role on the ACS document:Key Areas of Knowledge. My area is Service Management which was acknowledged on my last assessment as 3 years IT Service Manager, however I can tick the boxes of; digital networking WAN and LAN as I had 3 years telecomms specialist acknowledged. I can include some Hardware and Software fundamentals and functional specification writing. Software user testing scripts and the actual facilitating of UAT and some security and project management with a bit on business applications and information management. Any suggestings what code I should apply for?
Cheers I have a suggestion for you.. Wait till all the SMP lists are out. From those you can tell what occupations are in demand and then tailor your RPL application to target those skills.. Thats what I have in mind.. Unless some miracle happens and Victoria comes accepts my State sponsorship application (now SMP). Cheers, TAA |

Cheers, TAA I think I'll do that, I'm spending too much time on this site trying to find some sort of hope with 2231-79 (Oracle Spec) and something to cling on to....I've downloaded the new forms from the ACS site and have started to fill them in....and prepare for a new assessment. I don't suppose I'll get it done for free (applied 25th Jan, received 25 Apr). Cheers and good luck  |

On top of it, the new SMP wont be out till August at least as NT just announced they they wont be sponsoring anyone till Sept 1st until they devise their SMP. This trend is dangerous. We have already wasted so much time waiting, now a reassessment - 12 weeks for that and then wait for SMPs, then another wait for SMP acceptance / rejection... I am going mad !, I think I should quit visiting this site for a week or so. I am super depressed !. I wish for just one good news ! Cheers, TAA |

Hi,
I recently had assessment done by ACS. I have total 4.6 years of IT experience. First 3.3 years in Linux and Solaris administration and last one year in Weblogic Application Server (J2EE) administration. I had provided relevant documents to ACS and got my assessment done this month. In the final letter they have only mentioned 2231-79 without any specialization. I am disappointed and don't know what to do now. Can anyone please suggest. Thanks other than this ACS can give you code based on the documents provided by you. if you feel this is not what is expected , then check the provision on acs website to appeal against the assesment. |
Re: Assessment Result
whethere its 2231-79 with specialization or without, it does not matter now because all are mapped to the same anzsco code so no point worrying about it.. it would be worth woking on a reassessment if you got your letter after may1. If not, you need to do a new application for a new anzsco code if you think there is any that fits your role.else you will be tagged to the converted anzsco code which I think is of not much use.

Re: Merged threads on ASCO code confusion
Hi fellas
Any suggestions what could be the new code if I wish to apply as an SAP specialist under 175. Have already got 2231-79(sap specialist) from ACS but all invain as of current regulations. Appreciate your advice. Cheers Virdi |
Re: Merged threads on ASCO code confusion
hi..depends on what your role is.. if you are onto functional roles, you can go for business analyst, senior technical roles, I would suggest systems analyst, for something like ABAP programming, you could go for developer programmer.

Re: Merged threads on ASCO code confusion
hi Zaske,
Are you talking about 261399? Do you think this code will be of any use? Is there any possibility of any state sponsoring it? Its a vague code with so many occupations and all the specilaizations as per last SOL. Reassessment for post May 1 and new assessment for others is the only option..do you see any other option? |

Check your application which you have submitted . Have you applied under 2231-79 code or 2231-79( Some Specialisation) depends on what you have applied also.

Thanks for your reply. In ACS application I had chosen ASCO Code 2231-11 and in MODL Description I had mentioned "Computing Professional - unix, linux, solaris, j2EE. ACS gave me 2231-79 and I am not sure why they have not given any specialization there. I received my letter on 22nd of this month(June). I had applied for assessment on March 19. What about the new ANZSCO codes. How do i co-relate 2231-79 and will I get MODL (60) points? Please suggest. Thanks |

By the way, what did you mean by "it would be worth woking on a reassessment if you got your letter after may1". Do I need to do the reassessment done once again? Thanks. |
Re: Merged threads on ASCO code confusion
I took the liberty last night to contact my skills assessing officer at ACS. A speedy response to my enquiry was received (see below) regarding my current positive PASA letter dated 25 Apr as suitable for migration 2231-79 (oracle spec).
I have not got the time this morning due to work to check what 'Legislative instrument' or ComLaw etc is. I would appreciate if someone could do some digging. I hope the response I received from ACS sheds some light, if it's just a generic answer to lots of similar enquiries then......my migration agent needs to pull his finger out and start working. Have a good day MJX Hi, You should first determine whether your occupation appears on the current Legislative instrument (if applicable) for the type of skilled visa program you are interested in, then check to see if an acceptable ASCO to ANZSCO correlation exists for the occupation code on the Instrument. See: ComLaw > Federal Register of Legislative Instruments, or refer to the attached document. In addition, you should check the eligibility criteria for the type of visa you wish to nominate/apply for to determine any ASCO-ANZSCO transitional arrangements specific to that visa program. If you are uncertain whether your skills assessment is acceptable for a visa application, or have further questions regarding the above, please contact DIAC to discuss your situation.
