Default Medicals in Winchester, Southampton or Maidenhead ?

Wondered if anyone out there has had experiences of these places regarding medicals.

Can anyone comment on the service and guide us as in which might be a better one to go for?

Obviously prices will have an impact but interested in getting a personal recommendation too - as dreading it a bit

We had our medicals done on 2005 at "The Bridge Clinic" in Maidenhead. Excellent service. They even let us hire DHL (courier) to come and collect the medicals. Very happy to recommend them.

We are keen to go here as they will do everything under the same roof and are reasonably priced too

Many Thanks

Hi! I can recommend Dr. Goodall in Southampton 02380 333336. The receptionist will explain everything, including prices. The doctor dealt with my daughter and her family, almost 4 years ago, and us, in May this year. He is originally from Tasmania, and after the medical, of which he put us at ease very quickly, he talked about Aus. including prices of medication etc; it was after hours, but, he was brilliant. (we had a problem earlier in the day, which messed up the times, but, he stayed on to see us!) You have your xrays at the local private hospital, they are also excellent, and will arrange your appointments perfectly, so you follow through, with your xrays, onto see Doctor Goodall, all within a few hours! What more can I say ......?

Thank you -

Do these surgeries generally organise couriers to take the meds or is it usually registered post ?

I seem to be getting vague answers on this from the surgeries....

It depends on the Doctor, Southampton used Royal Mail and they arrived ok after a week. I remember waiting and praying they arrived ok, should probably have used a courier for peace of mind

In Maidenhead they normally use Royal Mail. But as long as you inform them in advance that you want to use a courier, you can do that.

They will phone you when the Medicals are ready. You then phone Interparcel (or whoever you have chosen), pay them over the phone by credit card, and tell them The Bridge Clinic address. Courier then goes and picks them up and leaves a loading document behind for you. The Bridge Clinic then send that to you by post.

Hi

We done our medicals at Maidenhead as this was local to us and they did the medicals and X-Ray. They had an excellent service. I think the cost was about GBP 635, for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 12 and 8).

About the posting I think they posted it and charged for the courier.
If you ring them they are very helpful and tell you the prices over the phone and are also on there website below

Hope this helps.

Just have to recommend......

We had our meds done yesterday - plumped for maidenhead in the end - it was the most reasonable plus as we were travelling some way, it was handy to get everything done under the one roof.

I just have to say how wonderful the doctor was - by far the best we have ever come across!

He got our son (aged 8) involved "as his assistant" and got him to check how well we did our eye tests, got him to test our reflexes and listened to heart beats etc.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough - our son - who was quite nervous about going - has now decided to be a doctor!!

Again, thank you all for your replies x

Did they send them by courier or Royal mail?

Ours were sent by Royal mail on the 02/12/09 and arrived in sydney 11/12/09, so not very speedy.

Ours are going by royal mail - was expecting the length of time you quoted though!

Any idea how long it takes from the date of medical until the Results are back and ready to be sent?

Just had call from the clinic to tell us of next stages of med process - they quoted 3-4 days for results to get to 0z so yours were quite delayed!

Fingers crossed for your visa grant soon - here's hoping your premonition works again

Yeah they said 3-4 days to us as well, but it was not be.

You can track the delivery in Oz once it has left the UK.

http://www.auspost.com.au/track/

Select Domestic Tracking and put the 13 digit Royal Mail number in.

That's how we knew ours took an extra week to get there. Only found out today.

Good luck!
