Default Medicals Tyneside/Northumberland

Hi all,

could anybody point me in the direction of a good doctor
for visa medicals in the Tyneside or Northumberland areas.
Also, any idea on how much they are likely to cost (2 adults, 1 child)

Cheers in advance

Steve.

We had our meds done by Dr Howarth at the Denton Turret Medical Centre in the west end of Newcastle. The address is 10 Kenley Road and the phone number is: 0191 274 1840. It's just off the A1/A186 junction in the west end.
Sorry, can't remember what the cost was

We used him as well - no problems. Got the chest films done in Jesmond I think it was, some private clinic there. Dr Howarth was spot on.

Just had them done a week ago. Dr Howarth, Denton Turret same as other posters (£590 all in for 2 adults and 2 kids - no tattoos) , x-rays at the Newcastle clinic Jesmond (£55 each).

He tells you he can't tell you if you've passed but then also tells you that ethically if you fail for any reason he is duty bound to send you back to your GP to get the problem sorted, so read into that what you like...

Hi

We had our medicals done last October also with Dr Howarth (3 adults, 2 kids) approx £630 includes £50 courier fee. Our x-rays were done at the Nuffield £58 each, kids (under 12,I think) don't need them.

Our visas were granted on 22nd January!!!

Looks like this is the one we will be using when our request for meds come in.

Was it a long waiting time to get an appointment or was it a relatively quick process.

What sort of things did he do I hear the tests can vary from doctor to doctor.

Thanks

Kaye

We got an appointment within the week, same for x-rays, so not long to wait.

Having read other threads on the subject, I think you're right, things do vary from doc to doc. In no particular order:

Weight
Height
BMI
Strip to undies
Simple eye test
Retina check
Look in ears
Check skin, lymph nodes in neck
Blood pressure
Sample of blood for HIV etc
Listen to chest
Quick prod of the belly
For the gentleman, 'cough' . . . 'and again'.

All in all about twenty minutes. Not bad work if you can get it.

cheers

Andy

Hi

We got appointments very quickly. They were after 5 o clock appts. It's about 18 months since we had them done but from memory he checked, height, weight, blood pressure, sight. We were only in about 10 minutes per person maximum. He processed them quickly too, there weren't any delays.

Hi Kaye

You do have the option of a gown!
