I am also offshore visa applicant from onshore (457), and going to face the similar situation in future. Thanks in advance mate.

Can you please explain a bit about what sort of itinerary CO asked to submit and How much time the CO has given you to leave Australia? Thanks buddy.

I've been given 28 days to submit my travel itinerary. As I've already planned my trip to overseas in Dec and booked ticket in Aug, so I forwarded the same today. They want me to visit australia after stamping before 12 May 2010.(my application launch date)

They want me to be overseas for 5 business days atleast.

Let me know if you've more questions.

Cheers,
Sumit

They just want confirm tickets to overseas for atleast 5 working days. Once in that country you need to contact visa grant office for stamping. Which takes 1 week time. He gave 28 days to provide my final itinerary.

All the Best!!!

Unfortunatelly, I haven't received any letter from DIAC :( ... I've hired a migration agent so, I'm waiting news from him. Since I'm from a High risk country, I guess I have to wait a little bit longer

Just one thing I want to say to all the good guys here.....there's no difference whether you belong to HR or LR country. If your documents are all correct and properly documented then no one can reject your visa based on caste, creed, religion or country. I'm living in australia for last 3 years and found people very helpful and humble in nature.

I'm from the land of largest democracy in the world called INDIA.

Sumit

That brings up a very valid point. I have never seen a HR/LR categorisation in DIAC website/175 application form/PLE response....nowhere...except in this forum.

If anybdy can provide me a valid DIAC link where this LR/HR thing has been talked abt, I will really appreciate:thumbup:

I doubt people ask the question because they think the are going to be discriminated against based on their country of origin.

Its because CO's are allocated a certain type of visa to process, and obviously some teams/CO's are working through them more diligently than others. I think they seem to get through the low risk country ones faster, so it gives readers an idea of what date the CO's are currently at if they are from a similar risk country to you.

Re: May 2009 Visa Applicants

Hi

To quote the email I saw which showed differing processing times per country, this was posted by an agent on another forum although this was back in AUGUST but shows that they do differentiate by country:

This just in from the Migration Institute of Australia, good news for some:

Processing times: General Skilled Migration (GSM)

Brisbane Skilled Processing Centre

State and territory Nomination (STN) applications are taking most of their time. Few if any Critical Skills List (CSL) applications are being processed at the moment.

Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre

In a 'typical' week in the ASPC they allocate around 700 GSM applications - approx 450 STN, 150 CSL and 100 not covered by the S499 direction. They allocate STN applications within 10 days of approving the nomination and they are currently allocating CSL applications lodged between November 2008 and January 2009, depending on the processing team.
Processing teams deal with applicants from particular countries or regions. Examples of the current differences in processing teams for CSL applications can be seen in the following dates for allocation to case officers:

• UK electronic applications: February 2009
• UK paper applications: January 2009
• China electronic applications: December 2008
• China paper applications: November 2008

Both GSM processing centres provide a weekly email update of some processing times. Just send a blank email (no subject heading or message) to: [email protected] and [email protected].

Cheers,

Hi there , I also live the USA in Illinois. Could you please tell me where did you get FBI clearance.Do you have some phone number? I called FBI in Springfield and they told me to get it from Local Police and that dont issue those kinf of documents. I got it from local police station ( Sheriff's office), but not sure if Immigration would require FBI only if you are residing in USA.

I am also not sure of my local police checks verifies if you are convicted in all 50 states ( which is federal check).

Hi Argenjis ,
I am UNIX security Specialist, same domain like you. Have you looked online for jobs in Australia? Where are you heading to? Sydney?

Yes, I'm registred in seek.com.au and every day it send me an email with my searches saved.

In my opinion, Sydney or Merlborne could be my possible destinies.

Yeah!

Seems strange... I am not sure why they asked as it was included at the time of application lodgement, lets see what comes next, my fingers are crossed.

Cheers,

Yes, there are certainly different groups within DIAC that are handling applications from different countries. That definitely makes sense from administrative purpose too. However I find it difficult to fathom where these terms 'high risk' and 'low risk' are coined from, and how are we so sure that processing time is definitely skewed in accordance with country type. The particular instance cited in this mail could be just incidental that UK team is a bit ahead of china team!

I believe there is no such timeline discrimination within DIAC wrt countries, and my hypothesis is corroborated by the fact that many april and may applicants from so called 'HR' countries are getting their visa before their 'LR' counterparts. samspace is a case in point.
