My case also was the same; in my status it displayed 'Health requirements outstanding'. So i went and did my medicals even before DIMA requested...
But i waited for my PCC as its validity is onnly for 3 or 6 months (im not sure!). And yesterday my status changed to PCC - requested, but did not receive an email.. Im going ahead and doing it..
There are people who has front loaded PCC and meds too!

In my opinion, you should start to check your status after 5 or 6 months from your lodgement date.
