Default LOST VISA AT DIMA - Any Agents who Know their System please help

Hi I am October application sent visa 6th October, as most October applicants had acknowledgments by December, emailed DIMA, got private email back stating application received 16th October; however when credit card not debited and no CO by Feb - emailed again and was told they had no application on their system. We sent application international signed for post, unfortunately haven't got tracking number anymore but as package not returned to us - and with email saying they had received it; we know our application is there but probably hasn't been put on the sytem. We have phoned, emailed and pleaded with them for more information - they say if we cannot prove it was signed for they cannot help us. We have copy of email with the person's name from DIMA - surely this is prove enough - we scanned original visa application to them but they wouldn't accept it. We are even willing to re-do application but we need original date as we will lose points because of age if this is not accepted. Is there anything we can do????

Unpalatable as it may be I think you are going to have to engage an agent - probably one in Australia who can deal with the ASPC in a sensible time zone - and be prepared to pay a fee for his or her assistance.

Best regards.

When you emailed diac did you put the postal number on the sent email at all ?

Hope you get sorted

Hi KD,

I think Alan's right, someone will need to liaise with the ASPC for you, and a lot will depend on the authority of the person who confirmed receipt by email to you. Any reason why, if you sent it signed for, you can't retrieve the details of delivery?

By way of explanation, during the last months of 2006 the ASPC was just putting each day's applications, pretty much unopened, in big plastic tubs arranged in date order - ie a hair's breadth from total chaos. Most likely your application just ended up under someone else's on a file, and they'll retrieve it when the other file gets a case officer. But that's just speculation, could as easily just be lost.

Cheers,

George Lombard
