Hey Guys!!

I will be joining the June 2008 applicants too - have booked the day off work on 27th June to fill app in online (176 sponsored by Auntie) and upload docs! that way I have the house to myself and no OH to bother me!!

Feeling a bit nervous about it! I see from some threads that the paper application is different to the online one. A question to those who have applyed online - is there anything you would recommend having to hand when filling it in? (apart from a big bottle of gin! :p)

Hi all,

I have now officially joined the June 2008 Apps! as of 17/6! I'm going for a 175 as a Systems Admin and flying solo. I'm doing it through an agent so that I wouldn't make a mess of it!

I'm not liking the look of the waiting times though. I hope to be in Australia this time next year at the latest.

Re: JUNE 2008 Applicants

I have always loved Australia as a country to live in. Although I am eligible for Canadian immigration but I always wanted to be an Australian citizen. I had my skills assessed by Engineers Australia in Feb 2007. But at that time I was short of 120 points required for immigration. I tried securing SIR SA, STNI Vic and SIR Vic but was somehow refused. In Sept 2007, the rules changed and extra points were offered for proficient English. I under took IELTS in Dec 2007 but was able to get 7 in three modules whereas 6.5 in one module. In May 2008 I again applied for SIR WA, SIR SA and STNI Vic. On 17 May 2008 my occupation was placed in the MODL, and this time around I have been sponsored by WA, SA and am awaiting decision from Victoria.

Anyways, waiting for a fresh assessment letter from Engineers Australia, and as soon as I get it will send my documents. I am hopeful to be a prospective June 2008 applicant.

Re: JUNE 2008 Applicants

We have had email from our Agent saying that the timescale is 5-6 months until we get a Case Officer, then 3-6 months on from there until we get Visa, so all in all we are looking at 12 months from now!
Not good as we were hoping to start 2009 in Brisbane!:frown:

What lead times has everyone else been given?

Hi
We have been told to expect a Case Officer in the next few weeks and fingers crossed visa in 5 months. We are going on a RSMS. What type of visa of you applying for?

Hi
We are going on a 176, we have QLD State Sponsorship, which we thought may make it quicker!! but obviously not.

It just seems like we have been applying for a lifetime

Yes I can't stand the waiting but there is nothing else we can do now... just wait!

I need to find a hobby that will take the next 5 months up. I don't suppose it helps that I am on maternity leave so at home all day checking e-mails even though I know it's night time over in Oz but you never know!!!

I know, at least I keep busy at work, except for today boss is out so am looking on here :D

Just trying to get through to the Doctors to book our meds but the phone is constantly engaged :frown:

We had our medicals last week in Sheffield. It costs £75 each for the chest xrays for me and hubbie then £475 for the medicals, me and hubbie plus two boys under 3.

It was all straight forward, look in ears, eyes, mouths etc - easy money really we were all in and out within the hour! Wish I could earn £475 for an hour's work!

Don't wanna be a downer, but we were hoping to be in Oz in July at the latest originally, but now since the timeline for 175/176 hasn't moved anywhere for 3 months we have kind of given hope and are also wishing we could also start 2009 in Brisbane!

Unless they perform a miracle over there we are looking at atleast over 8 months of waiting who knows maybe even 13 to 14 months as some have calculated

So get busy for 5 -8 months. Sell everything and get otherwise ready for leaving. I'm already worried that our PCC's will expire

The house is going on the market this week. I am sorting all out stuff out, four piles, Ebay, car boot, charity and take with us.

Please let a first time buyer with cash walk through my front door and fall in love with my house and furniture and want to buy it all!!!

We want to be ready to go as quickly as possible once the visa comes through.

Please work harder and faster at the DIAC.
