Re: January Applicants
Thanks for adding me Tasha!
Reading through the threads has put me in a very chirpy mood. Been panicing a bit realising how much Stevie and I need to learn but at the same time excited because its all feeling a bit more 'real' and its so comforting realising we arent the only ones going through all this.
Sometimes the abbreviations etc are stumping me but I working them out slowly, eg. I hoping PM means post me! So here goes- we went to an emigration show last march in Glasgow with an open mind and fell in love with Oz. Stevie is a plumber so we decided to apply for a 136 visa through Australian Migrations & Visa Lawyers with him as the primary applicant and me as his partner. So took 9 months doing all the forms, TRA, etc and finally lodged application 03/01, and that was us asked for police checks and medicals on 08/03. Neither of us have ever been to Oz before but figured anything had to be better than spending the rest of our lives here! Perth appeals to us both but that might just be a psyhcological thing... (we live in Perth, Scotland), seems to have good job prospects for plumbers though.
Isnt all straight forward for us though, can see Stevie getting in easy enough but we arent 100% sure I will yet. Stevie and I have been together 3 years but havnt actually lived together... I was at uni up until last year so it didnt make financial sense to move in together until i graduated, but then just before I graduated we went to that show and decided hey lets go to Oz! So we decided to continue to stay at our very understanding parents for a bit longer and save the pennies. Our parents and families all gave us lovely statements supporting that we practically live at each others anyway but I am still a bit concerned I wont be accepted because of our living circumstances. Time will tell. If all else fails Ill just apply for a working holiday visa and then re-apply once we have moved out and lived together for a year. Anyone out there been is this situation?

PM means private mail, you'll learn them all in the end. Myself and OH aren't actually married but we have lived together for 10 years so not as complicated as you. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you though, I'm sure you'll get there somehow. In the mean time keep us posted.

Morning Everyone,
I have spoken to Melpieters via email and they have a case officer!! I have updated the spreadsheet and its looking good. Just need Fleasolo and silentwalker to say they have Case Officers then it MUST be our turn (136ers anyway). There are a couple of you on other visas still waiting - fingers crossed for you! Keep us all posted...

Re: January Applicants
Morning Tasha - just having my morning check of the e-mail but no news today! We're a week behind you and we're desperately hoping for a CO in the next week or so - it's great to see so many people turning yellow. I read the post about medicals. Myself and the boys are having ours this morning, OH and my daughter's have already been done. We're frontloading them so hopefully those "extra resources" at the LCU will stick around once they've cleared the backlog!!!!

Congratulations everybody, things are seriously moving.
We have booked our meds for 13th April, for family of 5 at preston it works out including xrays which 4 of us need at £700.00.

Just got back from the doctors, We all passed and xrays all clear..Just wait for blood test results and they will send them off... Just for info the doctors only do blood test for HIV.. Nothing else!!!!.. so 3 weeks without a drink was a bit of a waste of time... will make up for it now though
Well done to all those who have got their CO's today.. we are still waiting
Keep you chin up Lia. Hope your OH xray is fine.

Re: January Applicants
Im extremley happy to say we have been assigned our case officer too
I cant belive we have had our AOS (138 subclass) requested....im at a loss what to do, I was expecting to relax for atleast six months........all of a sudden PCC's for UK, Aus and USA are required, AOS interview needs sorting........
Without reading through the last 20 pages anybody know why we are being processed so quickly....im non-MODL btw
anyway, some1 pass me a beer QUICK

Re: January Applicants
Thanks Shelly... No they didn't offer info... I just bombarded them with "why's, what's, if's, when's tell me now tell me now". They were very good, felt really relaxed.. even my blood pressure was normal!!! Just need to ring back next week about the blood test.
1 Step closer... just hope the CO (when we get one) doesn't ask for more info.. We are getting married in May so after we send the marraige certificate that should be it for us.
Just feels like the waiting never ends.. A month away normally would feel no time but since starting this application next week seems ages away.
