took two months between CO allocation and grant which felt like two year.

Congrats!

I think it varies from state to state. I wrote to WA the other day and they said 8 to 10 weeks for processing for SS.

From another thread (cannot remember which but you can view on the ACT site), here is the priority order:

Applications will be processed in the following order:
Priority applications – 30 working days from receipt of a ‘decision ready’ application.
1. Applicants who live in Canberra.
2. Applicants with close family members living in Canberra (parents, siblings, aunts or uncles).
3. Applicants who have not lodged an application for a skilled migration visa.

Other applications – 60 working days from receipt of a ‘decision ready’ application.
4. Applicants who have already applied for a skilled migration visa.
5. Applicants who have not had their CV verified for sponsorship.

Hello lovelyshine!
Correct me if I'm wrong! The final Visa decision is coming through DIAC not from the state. So, whats the validity for states priority here? States priority is for nomination/sponsorship applicants only and as far I know DIAC is prioritizing all state sponsored candidates.

Thanks abhijeet. My timelines are as follows:

vetassess: end of sept 08 (4 weeks)
IELTS: end of oct 08
Victoria SS: end of dec 08 (4weeks)
176 SS application lodged early jan 09
CO: early feb 09
Meds finalised end of feb 08
Visa granted yesterday!

I just got extremely lucky with the timing of the state sponsorship.

Congratulations Helsch!

In other news, there's some light at the end of the tunnel for CSL applicants on this thread: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...=601592&page=3

Someone got a response to their PLE saying this:

Thank you for your e-mail in relation to your visa application under
Australia’s General Skilled Migration program.
I can advise that your occupation as listed in the application gives you
access to the Critical Skills List for processing of applications.
The application will be processed in the Adelaide Skilled Processing
Centre where we expect we will have dealt with all of these type of
applications by the end of June this year.

For updates on the processing of applications please send a blank email
to
[email protected]
The auto generated response will hold information about application
processing."

Big Congratulations Helsch!! Hey Safaet shouldn't be too long now

I think the wait between CO allocation and grant is far worse than the wait for TRA, state sponsorship and getting a co all put together. Lots of luck to all other January applicants - fingers crossed for visas soon.

That was in response to Safaet's comment on some Jan SS folks getting their PR. Since each state processes the SS different, the Jan folks will get their SS approved at different times, which results DIAC granting PR at different times too.

many thanks for all the congrats guys.
Nicky, I totally agree with you, the wait between the CO allocation and grant is by far the worst , but what a relief once you get it!
Safeat, did you inquire about the status of your application? I did in early march and they told me my case would be reviewed in early april. It helps when you get a timeline, but it didn't stop me from checking online everyday...

Could you plz tell me source of this information?
If this is the case how do applicants get visa within days of docs marked as "met".I have seen it with most of 176 SS applications.

We're talking about 2 different issues. I'm talking about the time you lodge a state sponsorship application to when you are granted state sponsorship. You are talking about the DIAC process. Notice I mentioned SS in my post, not DIAC.
