How long does it take to get visas stamped in passports?

How long does it take to get visas stamped in passports?
If i send passports off today, how long does it take approx for them the put visas in and return passport? want to booka flight but not sure they will be back in time?

I don't know if it varies depending of your visa type (dont' see why it should). I have just been granted a prospective marriage visa. Sent passports Friday 23rd. Passports arrived back Thursday 29th.

you dont need stamps in passport to travel to oz on a 175 visa. you can just go to the local DIMIA office when you arrive and get it done then.

However you should be aware that this may cause you hold-ups at check-in and again at Immigration this end while the verify the visa details with DIAC.
