Default eVisitor visa - very long processing time

Hi guys,

How long did it take you to get an eVisitor visa?
I applied 1 month ago (15th of December) and I still didn't get an approval.

It's really bad because I have to fly next week and I'm considering canceling the application and my plane ticket.
On the immi.gov.au website they advertise this visa as being approved in a couple of minutes.
I called them today and was greeted by a rude lady who didn't help.
If this is Australia, I think I'll pass. It seems they don't want my money.

Thanks for any insight on this.

M

Hi, i got mine straight away. Can you go into a travel agent? They do them straight away.

Have a look at this website.

They should email your visa to you straight away.

Have you used the online facility to check the progress of your application?

Unfortunately I didn't think it will be complicated and I lodged the application without an agent. It's too late to change.

I checked the online status link and the last update is "05/01/2011 e-Mail sent to you".
The e-mail I received on that date states that "my application is currently assessed."

I'll wait till Monday and if nothing changes I'll cancel my trip.

I used to use an e visa fairly frequently before PR and it was a matter of a day or so before it was sent over by email.

Stupid question, have you checkd your "junk box"?

I do know that the agents who are in contact with Hobart Tasmania manage to bye pass the system and get them passed extremely quickly... Maybe explain the circumstances and for 6.50 GDP thats nothing really.

Good luck

Susie

There is always the possibility that your details are "flagged" somewhere - have you done something naughty ?

Where are you applying from? And on what passport? Is it possibkle there coukld be some doubt over your eligibility? If your application was being assessed on the 5th at least you know they have it.

Have you submitted one of these?

That is completely untrue about anyone "bypassing the system". Using an agent will not speed up your application or give you priority in any way. The only thing an agent can do is to make sure you submit a complete application.

As for them offering service wehre visas are issued within 72 hours, any travel agent can do that for you when you buy your tickets. Or, you can do it yourself online and get a decision in 72 hours.

"Lodging your application by yourself
You are able to lodge any kind of visa application or asylum claim yourself. A migration agent cannot influence the outcome of your application, nor can they fast-track the processing of your visa application." http://www.immi.gov.au/visas/migrati...nts/not-using/
