Please is there anyone else out there as fed up as us ??
We were sooo dying to get to Australia but now all this waiting is killing it for us.
We lodged a paper based SIR 495 application 17th august 07, got our acknowledgement 5th feb 08 , followed up with our medicals and police checks.
It seems that SIR 495 visas are bottom of the list as many other catergories are getting theirs
Our agent assures us that we are not forgotten and ""ïn the system"""
we sold our home and stored our belongings back in October and now we are getting so despondent.
Please does anyone else feel as bad """"WAITING""""""

Really ? I am surprised !!! Out agent told us the visa would be quick but it has been 9 months now. medicals and police checks completed in January this year.
Wonder why its is so slow and also why they are not processed fairly in date order ?? The Sept and October applications are being processed before ours.
I thought they were desperate for people in south australia ?
We are both 46 at the end of this year and feel life is passin us by. We need to get on with it despite the poor exchange rate.
Best Wishes to all the other June/July/August applicants who are waiting desperatley.
Thing is... is the answer is no we can get on.. but us personally have got our lives on hold !!!
Fingers crossed it wont be long ... eh ???

I am going to apply in Nov, because I do not want to move until after my daughter finishes her exams next May/June.
I am concerned though about leaving it until Nov to apply as we have good points now as my husbands job is on the jobs in demand list. My concern is that should we waste any time in applying, this might not be the case in November.
Is there a time limit, to validate a visa, once it has been accepted?
Thanks

Does any one know, from the point of a visa being processed, how long do you have to validate it? ie enter the country?

From: Uk - hopefully to VIC

Or do as we did - applied Nov online then waited until it looked like we might get a case officer and had meds and Police checks done late April, if that all goes to plan we'll get a CO soon and have until next april to validate (touch wood fingers crossed for visa....)

If I were you I would apply now then just wait. Depending on what skills you have you will need that assessed first anyway, that can take a few months.
Wait until you have been allocated a Case Officer before you get PCC's & Meds done, that will give you a longer validation date. Get you application in & start the ball rolling.

{ General Skilled Migration visas: Class VE, VF,VB and Class VC subclass 487
Subclasses: 175, 176, 475, 476, 885, 886, 887, and 487
E-lodged: 10 November 2007 }
This part applies to me - 176 - just so I have it clear, does this mean they're processing applications made before November 10th? So by submitting on 9th March I've got roughly another four months before I hear anything?

You can email them but not sure of the address
I'm sure someone will reply with the address but if not just do a quick search in the threads & it should come up.
