Re: Contributory Parent Visa - Part 5 - Visa/Immigration queries only please!!
Funny I did not realise this as this is exactly what my friend's parents did, they came over on a visitors visa and when they were here they applied for the CP visa and never left. They were given bridging visas for the whole time the process took (18mths)
How would immigration or cutoms possibly know your intentions anyway? My mother has been out every year for the past 7 times so it will be hardly unsual for this visit. I will look into it furthe rbut it seems this is a better option for us, the only hurdle being the fact that she will have to leave to return to the Uk to sort out her affairs there before returning.

But the provision is there, so you have to be careful how you act and what you say. You also have to watch out for a "no further stay" endorsement on any visitor's visa, as that precludes applying for residency.

Hi all
We now have a case officer and got an email today requesting meds and PCs plus completed 956 or 956A form (not sure why as this relates to agents - can anyone shed any light?).
Could you update the tracker for us please Steve, although it might look as if we have jumped to the front of the queue but DIAC have taken the date of our original 103 visa (18th March) as our lodgement date. This is just under 12 months. Things definitely seem to be speeding up so others not far behind might want to think about gathering that all important dosh together to pay the big one!
I want to get on to organising PCs and meds immediately, but can't as I am stuck in work - so frustrating!

We didn't have to complete forms956 or 956A so can't help you .
You lucky people didn't have to endure the long frustrating wait of the last 3 months because you didn't know it was going to be the last3. How lovely ! Time will fly for you now. We have sent off our final vac today. That's a weight off our minds and our pockets, Not much left where that came from.
You will soon be waving goodbye to some of your hard earned cash too.

Looking at the form, it seems to apply only if you had or now have an agent, so if you haven't and never have had, I would think you could simply ignore it.
But a quick email to immi should clarify.

Thanks for the advice - that's what I thought.
I do know that some people have requested a deferment to pay the 2nd VAC, but I think they were only maybe given an extra month or so to pay. I haven't heard of anyone being able to defer that long, but maybe someone else can advise. You could email the PVC and put your question to them. Once they have the visa your parents don't need to move to Australia straight away. Another option, if they don't want to pay all the 2nd Vac at once, is to switch to the Temporary 173. You only need to pay just over half the 2nd VAC and no AOS. This allows you to stay in Oz for 2 years, during which time you need to apply for the 143 (usually takes 4-6 months), pay the rest of the VAC and the AOS.

Yes, that's what I thought, although the request form is not very clear. I have emailed the CO just to be on the safe side.

No we are not on the tracker Please see page 33 #492 for our dates . We will be heading for Adelaide to join our daughter and 4 of our grandchildren and their extended family (18 people all together, not including us).
We put the house on the market this week and have had two offers already.
It feels too good to be true but our village was featured in 6 episodes on tv with Michael Wood. It seems quite popular at the moment so that has helped.

Finally today we sent off our final paperwork and UK police certificates to our CO.
That only leaves the results from our medicals which the Doctor said he hoped he would get in the post also today and the Oz police certificates which our son in Oz will be receiving very soon to forward on to our CO for us.
Now to start thinking about the best way to pay, any suggestions welcome.

Hi
Can anyone explain the process of the AOS. Mum got her CO on 11th Feb, had medicals and Police checks done all results now should be with CO via the Agent. Not heard anything back re Meds these were done on 16th Feb so will assume Mum is all ok??
Uncle has been to Centrelink on 14th Feb and completed all the forms and Mum has transferred the money to his account but he has not been asked to bank it with Centrelink yet. Is this done as a request by CO or should he have heard something by now!!
Just not sure of the process...
Thanks

Centrelink sends a letter/form to the Aos, this is taken to the bank to open the bond, Aos picks up a receipt from bank and takes that back to Centrelink, Centrelink contact CO to say bond paid.
P.S. Has uncle changed his car recently?

In all this we did not use an agent so maybe there is a delay in information being passed on there.
