hi perthfect

yes it seems that really because nowadays DIAC made all standard format for replies and replying accordingly.

I complainted about the processing of my visa application which is 475 SRS visa and i am in MODL list as per their requirements but after waiting for 1 year it is still in the routine checks of DIAC and hence i objected that, if you cant process as per your standard timelines which you have mentioned in your website then why not increasing it in your website and letting applicants know about ACTUAL timelines. You must know that delay in months may affect applicants living and working plans etc. etc.

Thats what i wrote. What about you? Your timeline etc.

What is the point in complaining???
The way I see it, you are dealing with a Government agency - you do as they tell you, when they tell you. You can't complain!!! I know people have been waiting a long time - but they DO tell you an estimated time. From what I have read on here complaining only takes away CO's from allocating visas!!
The less people complain the more time CO's have to work on our visa's.

We've been sitting waiting since January - we've read this board, but not really posted anything. we're just waiting patiently, and as our agent says don't do anything irreversible until you have the visa.

simple really.

What about having to pay a huge fee ? Surely anyone has the right to complain whenever they want.

simple really.

Dear Russell,

I didnt complaint about their Cos actually rather i oppossed their double standards which is different in practical and different as they are informing.

I can see that you applied on jan 30th means after 4 months of my apply, i am sure that you will not wait after 2-3 months but you will also make a complaint if you will not get your visa till then, because i know that people from western countries cant wait as long as indian people.

Well it appears there's one Indian person willing to make sweeping generalisations based on country of origin! I am sure you wouldn't appreciate the comment in reverse. Perhaps such opinions unless based on facts are best kept to yourself before war breaks out on here again.

And yes I agree it would be nice if DIAC also posted their actual timescales not just their guidelines, and yes I agree you have the right to question it if they fall outside their charter. One person on an employer sponsored thread did just that recently and got her visa the next day!

And yes I would love to be able to wait patiently - what's the secret?

safin,

i didnt mean that really but if you or any friends think that then i am sorry, but you will too guess the difference by looking at other applicants timelines and any indian applicant timelines, they are taking more than double time to process.

we cant expect visas very next day after apply but there should be limit of timelines thats what i want to say at all.

thanks

India is classified as a high risk country. This is a website set up for Britishexpats, so most folk on here are from Britain - Britain is not a high risk country. Processing is faster for low risk countries.

I'm with you on this one RussellCat - no point in complaining. Unless they are deliberately mishandling your application there are no grounds for a complaint. I understand that they have service level agreements, but they are really only a guide.

I do feel for people that have been waiting around (I applied in January, but patience is a virtue as they say!), but all you can do is wait really.

I work in the public sector and when applicants complain to us we always put them at the back of the queue!

No, actually it is not set up for British expats, but rather by British expats. Everyone from any country is more than welcome to post here and share their experiences.

As for the OP, the main reason that it takes longer for applications from India is that India is considered a high risk country. There are longer waits in India for information that DIAC may request, mostly due to the Indian government and beurocrocy. There are also more fraudulant applications from the sub-continent region, therefore DIAC does more indepth checks on workplaces and experience claims. While it may not seem fair, it is to protect Australia, which is after all what the Australian government's job is.

What you are doing by putting complaints at the back of the queue is unfair. So if someone has waited for a year for something and is near the front of the queue and makes a complaint you put them back at the bottom to wait another year? Definitely grounds for complaints there.

No, I certainly wouldn't want them to wait another year. My initial point still stands though. I hope, as in where I work, that the DIAC processes applications in a fair and orderly manner. Taking time out to deal with complaints affects all applicants as there is only a finite pool of staff.

If the application has not been dealt with fairly then this is another matter entirely.
