Default Citizenship - How soon?

We arrived on the 13th of June this year on a PR visa, am I right in thinking we can apply for citizenship from 13th June 2013 or would it be 4 years from the visa grant?

I know its still a while off but nice to be prepared!

The clock starts from when you are physically present, not from when you get your visa.

Hmm..I was so far under the impression tht I have to be 4 yrs in Oz post-PR...

Glad to see that temporary residency also counts. Have already completed 1 yr of these 4 yrs then

Yes 4 years from when you enter the country. You need to be in Oz for 3 out of the 4 years. In the fourth year prior to your application for citizenship you can only have absences of 3 months. You need to count all periods you are out or the country.

You qualify for a Residents Return Visa when you have been in Oz for 2 years of your 5 year visa period. This will extend your visa for another 5 years.

There are lots of places on this site that discuss the above.

Used to be but this has now changed, you need to be present 3 out of 4 years and 9 months out of the 12 months preceeding your application.

As soon as you have accumulated 3 years in Australia during the preceding 4 years.
