Cima as in Chartered Institute of Accountants

you can apply on 2 catergories
Finance Manager or Accountant
Both give 60 pts

you will need to send details of your qualifications to be assessed by the Aus CA body, should be no problem.

hope this helps

BTW, I know this as I am an ACMA.

ICAA is usually more advisable as an assessing body, but those with a
university degree equal to an Australian bachelors can consider CPAA.

The problem is the original poster was asking about NZ, not Australia.

For NZ, any qualification not on the list of qualifications given an automatic points score by NZIS (invariably a university degree) must be assessed by NZQA to see to what extent the qualification measures up to a NZ equivalent. Usually NZQA would expect there to be 3 years of full time study for there to be equivalence to a NZ bachelor's degree. I don't know too much about CIMA except that I assume most people who get CIMA accreditation would usually have a first degree as well. If that is so for you, and that first degree equates to a NZ first degree, then a CIMA qualification would probably be assessed as (if you are a principal applicant) a postgraduate diploma worth 11 or 12 points (ie an extra 1 or 2 points on top of your 10 points for a first degree. Ie I assume: Foundation - no extra point, Intermediate - 1 extra point, Final Level - 2 extra points.)

If you do not have a first degree, it's unlikely having a CIMA qualification alone would give you any points, but NZQA would have to be the judge of that.

Cheers - Don
