... and a kindof related question ...
If I get my PR do I then qualify as a 'local' in terms of MBA course fees or do I still have to pay the 'international student' rate ?
many thanks !

From what I have read, suppose u r doing an MBA as an International student and u get
your PR in between the course u have to inform the university abt your PR status
because they will then have to decide whether there's a seat for u in the following
term because u have got a PR and u r no longer an International student and hence u
pay the local fees.
If u get the PR and then do a MBA then u have to pay the local fees only.
Hope it helps.

Just one thing to add...
You pay domestic full fee only when you receive PR before the census date. For
example, the census date of this semester of most universities was 31/MAR/2002. If
you receive PR after this date, you cannot get refund your International student
tuition regardless whether or not you become a domestic student.
The census date of next semester will be 31/AUG/2002.
