Choice of 190 or 820 visa with Australian defacto partner
Hi all,
Just curious if anyone has any opinion what route we should take here.
I'm an Australian citizen who has been living and working in Europe for almost 5 years, and my partner of 3 years (1+ years living together) are considering moving back to Australia at the end of the year.
Partner Details:
German, 29 YO, Bachelor Degree in "Journalism and Corporate Communications", working professionally for 4-5 years in Marketing as a Marketing Manager and for the last year as a freelancer. Her English is easily fluent.
Option 1: Partner Visa 820 & 801
Cost: $7160 AUD
Option 2: Skilled nominated visa 190
Cost: $3755 + 880(skills assessment) + 370 (English test) ~ 5000 AUD
Need to be nominated by a state (target: Vic). Not sure how likely this is?
Overall the 190 is cheaper, however there is risk of burning the $880 as the skills assessment needs to be done before the EOI, and potentially the nomination by the state may not happen.
Does anyone have any experience with this and could weigh in?
Thanks!
