Default Changing VISA - Dilhema..Please Advise!!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this news group so please be patient with me.

Last year me and wife had appied for the Skill assessment for my wife
and when we received the result it was NOT-OK becuse they said that
she had 2 more subjects to study. So we decided to come to Australia
with the WHV. Once here, we made some research and we called the
Assessing authority and complained about our assessment since we knew
that her studies where identical to Australian stidies. After a few
days we received a new result which was OK.

Our WHV expires in October.

Now that we have the skill assessment,we would like to change from WHV
holders status to permanent visa.We will be aplying for Skilled
independent Offshore and launch the application form here.

The problem is this..

The Permanent visa process might take long to process and we have to
go back to our country and wait for the result to come. We will have
to find another job and start everything from scratch back there..

What is the best thing to do to extend our visa to stay longer in
australia until the permanent visa process is done so we only need to
go to NZ to get the visa on our passports and come back to Australia
with the new Permanent Visa?

Can we change the address where we have to pick up the new visa after
we launch the application. If we receive the visa before October we
can go to NZ. If the process takes longer we are not allowed to stay
in australia after October so we have to pick up the visa from our
country.

I hope that you understood our possition and sorry for my long email.

Any suggestions appriciated.

God Bless you all

I think the only reasonable way you might be able to get a PR visa before October, is to get state nominated. Do a search on "STNI" for more information. If you have relatives in Australia, or have pretty unique skills, the Australian sponsored or Employer sponsored visas might be good alternatives. If none of the above works for you, I'm afraid you'll have to wait at home till your skilled visa comes through, because it's an offshore visa so I'm pretty sure there is no way you'll be issued a bridging visa for the time between the expiry of your WHV and the granting of your skilled visa. Besides, IIRC the WHV has a condition that you must have the intent of leaving Australia at the end, so it's even more unlikely that you'll get a bridging visa after a WHV.
