Change of category after lodging the application

Default Change of category after lodging the application
Hello, I have lodged my application in subclass 176 (relative sponsored) in sep 2008. I can also complete all points for subclass 175 (skilled independent).

Can I change my visa category now after I have lodged my application? There will not be any change in the information except the sponsor information will become redundant.

Why bother? They're both permanent visas with no restriction on where you live so what difference does it make?

Yeah, I know. But the problem is that my sis is sponsoring me, she is a PR and she herself is dependent on her husband. She does not earn at all. I am afraid this might create a problem.

As far as my status is cocerned, I am already in Australia on 457 and doing a good IT job, I can support myself financially.
