Default Certifying copies

Apologies for what may be an often repeated question.

When you upload your documents, I presume you literally colour scan them and attach them to your online application.

I have a family friend who is a magistrate, but what does he physically sign with the document?

Im confused as to how an electronic document is signed and uploaded

If you're scanning and uploading a colour copy they don't need certifying.

I dont know why ,if you have a color scanner & upload it directly after scanning . Why magistrates then?

Because you're scanning and uploading the original, there's nothing to sign because it's not a copy. If you copy the document and scan and upload that then it would need certifying because it would be a copy. Hope that makes sense.

Ahh ok that makes sense.

I said magistrate as that is one of the chosen few on the immi site who can certify documents.

If everything is an original document scanned and uploaded are there any parts of the process which will need witnessing and signing?
