Certified Copies of documents - HELP !!!
Dear All,
Can anyone tell me or direct me to whom or what bodies in the UK can certify
copies of original documents.
I wish to make an application for assessment relative to the Sydney Accord
to the Institution of Engineers, Australia (IEAust).
I have already obtained a letter of attestation from the Engineering Council
UK that my qualification meet and exceed the Sydney Accord, however I need
to send copies of my qualifications and other documents which apparently
need to be certified copies.
Any help or assistance would be much appreciated.
regards
Daymon Thornton

Go to a solicitor's practice with the originals. They'll photocopy the original, stamp it and sign it. I chose a high street practice sunny Croydon and it cost me GBP5.00 per copy.

I paid £15 for approx 10 certified copies.
Ring around your local solicitors, their charges vary enormously.

Re: Certified Copies of documents - HELP !!!
Dear All,
Just got back from my local Solicitors.
Had 2 copies of my Engineering certificates and transcripts, along with an
attestation letter from the Engineering Council UK certified.
However the Solicitors did not have a company stamp, I don't thing this will
be a problem as the IEAust do not state that an official stamp is mandatory.
I will however be including an official letterhead though.
Took 15 minutes, and cost £15, for 8 pieces of paper.
Obviously I might want to consider Law instead of Engineering as a paying
career, LOL LOL.
Thanks once again for everyone's assistance.
Here we go then, let the Skilled Migration Application begin !!!!

In some countries, providing certified copies is considered a public duty. The solicitor I use is SOuth African and he was quite suprised to find that solictiors actually make money out of it. SO what he does if charge a flat fiver which then goes to charity.
SO I ended up getting everything certifed twice and paid him a fiver for it. It was the best deal I have had for ages. Mind you I did help him a bit by putting the stamp on while he signed. Took us about 40 mintues.

Luckily enough our solicitor is a friend so a good bottle of scotch was enough. His wife is also our doctor she to has helped. We had to promise them they could come to us when they visit/retire to Aus.Not a problem both fantastic people. One thing though my consultant insisted the stamp said certified copy, not just office address, hope this helps in some small way.
