Default Awkward situation!

I came to Oz on a defacto 457 in the beginning of October, I have done a few bits of work but have been looking for a permanent role.
I am a UK qualified electrician of around 4/5 years and whilst looking for work our relationship has broken down.
I need to think what to do now, I need to come off the defacto and get my own visa.
All ideas welcome...?

I guess a sponsored job is ideal but hard to find and wrong time of year...

Thanks in advance..

Just to be pedantic about terminology, but it is important to be clear. You are not on a "defacto visa" (also commonly called a partner visa), you are a dependent on a 457 visa. It will avoid confusion to use the correct terminology anyway.

Anyway as a qualified electrician, I would have thought things would look quite positive for you. This is an occupation in demand and you may qualify for the 189 or 190 skilled migrant visa. This would be much easier than trying to find an employer sponsor.

Have you done a skills assessment yet? You wont be able to apply for a visa without it.
