Default autistic kid

Hello you all out there. You guys are family in disguise. I am writing here for the first time, but have a daily access to whats happening. Without this forum , it sure would be difficult.

I have a question , and hope someone with any info can answer.

I have a autistic kid ( not severe ), will they reject my case because of my kid. He has no further medical condition.

I am bit worried hope to find some help here.

Thanks all

Hi

I asked the same question a while ago, on behalf of some friends of ours.
Unfortunately no-one came up with any info!

have you already applied for PR?

let me know how you get on - our friends will be interested!

good luck
Hazel

Hi Hazel, Oct,

I just found one very recent MRT decision after a short search which I think
you both should read:

http://www.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/di...2003/1511.html

We don't do medical cases but I would be happy to refer people to competent
professionals in the area. Bear in mind that very few migration agents have
adequate exposure to medico-legal experience and that the decision of the
Review Medical Officer of the Commonwealth (RMOC) is final.

Cheers

Thanks George,

Please help in what way you can.

There is no such mention in migration manual that the application can be majorly affected if you have kids or anyone in application who is mentally challenged.

I hope there is some clarification on this issue.

thanks again for the link.

I'm no medical expert either, but your child's condition should not
deter you from applying. There will be no automatic refusal based on
what you have said.

Hi Oct,

If you send me an email I will forward it to Peter Bollard who I think is
the leader in this field.

Cheers

Please view this as an opinion and not absolute.

I don't think having a child with autism pauses a problem as long as you, the legal guardian, has the financial resources for the treatment and care of your child should he/she need it. Afterall, autism is a condition beyond your control and beyond your child's control. I don't think you could get penalized for that.

If there is a problem with a person's health then private financial
resources will not prevent refusal. This is because Medicare is (for
many purposes) a universal health care system open to all Australian
citizens and permanent residents.

You can find out George's email from his website: http://www.austimmigration.com.au/

It's preferrable that you do not leave your email address here so that you don't get your email address picked up by spammers.
