LOL you like everyone to be married right?

I am not even going to comment on PR for her because I dont know how she feels about it, was just using that situation as an example of what I had heard (though have googled and since found out otherwise), though I think it could be fair to say not all kiwis would want PR here.
Where has JAJ said everyone should be married. Even in this day and age it's quite normal to assume that two parents are married. He was responding to comments made that were incorrect no more no less.

If she did want the security of PR she could probably qualify just as well as de facto. Many kiwis would like this security so the info could be useful to someone

I am making that statement based on JAJ making this assumption (married) to me (well comments I have made) twice now in just a few hours. I wasnt being a bitch about it, just having a giggle.

Id have to disagree about normal to assume people are married. I never assume people are married because alot of people arent these days.

Anyway, if we are concentrating on my sister, she is not even with the father of the baby any more.

In that case she ought to make sure the child has an Australian citizenship certificate, to avoid any problems proving status or renewing passport later on.

Use form 119, fee is A$60:
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/119.pdf

Child should also be eligible for NZ citizenship by descent, it can be registered at the New Zealand consulate.

Having an Australian child doesn't make her eligible for permanent residence, however - except through the parent route once child is old enough.
