Re: ACS during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation Old to New codes
Hi all
I had applied for ACS under 2231-79(SAP Specialist) which is still under process. I recently sent a letter to ACS nominating the ANZSCO code for the same. This is the reply form ACS for the same. Looks like an automated one. Thought will share the info with you guys.

Dear xxxx,
If the application has been lodged with the ACS and its assessment is in progress:
A letter/fax (signed) from the applicants is required
requesting the application (the way it was submitted) to be considered under PIM3 Guidelines;
stating that they read and understood Summary of Changes to PASA Guidelines (February 2010) document
nominating ANZSCO occupation
No additional documents are allowed to be provided.
In this case, the application will be reviewed free of charge. Two result letters will be issued (ASCO and ANZSCO). Please take note that the application may not be suitable under PIM3 based on the documents provided under PIM2.
If there is such concern, upon receipt of ASCO result letter, applicants must submit new PASA application, targeting criteria under PIM3. Full fee must be paid.
Consent letters may be faxed.
Kind regards,

Re: ACS during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation
Well, then is good news for all of us insn't it ?. As I can't apply to 175 because of not having enough points, I HAVE to wait for SMPs. So its definitely good news for myself and others who are short on points and require SS to apply.
Cheers,

Re: ACS during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation Old to New codes
Tell me what to do.....
1, +ve ACS received on 16 Feb 2010.
2, Asco code 2231-79 ( nec ) Specializing in Network security (for MODL).
3, Rest of my experience is all like a Telecom and Network Engineer.
I have read all new 4 SOL's, i have email to ACS , DIAC but nobody has yet answer briefly about the said query. I am still confused and i dont know which ANZSCO code has correlation with my +ve ACS letter.
Network security was an MODL requirement and only 12 months experience for network security was shown to ACS rest of 5 years experience were all Telecom and network engineering which previously comes under computing professional (nec).
I hope i will get a brief answer from experts and people who have clear understanding of all happenings. Waiting eagerly for desired reply.
Many Thanks.

First of all I am no expert. But here is what I know.
ASCO code 2231-79 (with specialization) is directly mapped to the ANZSCO code 263199 - Software and applications programmer (nec).
Network security is no longer in the main SOL. But 263199 is there on the Schedule 4 which is for State migration plans list (not released yet).
So, you have 2 options:
1 >. Get yourself re-assessed by ACS under the new code 261112 - Systems analyst or ICT business analyst. Tailor your CV and reference letter to show yourself as either Systems analyst or Business analyst. Forget that you were once a Network security specialist !.
2 >. Wait for the State Migration plans and hope that 263199 shows up in one of the state's demand list and apply for 176 visa using a state sponsorship.
Hope I make myself clear.

ASCO-ANZSCO transformation
Hi All,
I received my skills and qualifications assessed as SUITABLE under ASCO code 2231-79 (C, C++, and C# Specialist) in May XX, 2010, that letter was issued on April XX, 2010.
Can you please shed some light on my case that do I need ASCO-ANZSCO transformation for future immigration correspondence or already availed 2231-79 (C, C++, and C# Specialist) ASCO code will be enough for the State Sponsorships after finalization of State Migration Plans and DIAC application?
I am very confused about the re-assessment of my skills, my consultant is advising me that 2231-79 (C, C++, and C# Specialist) will works fine for me through-out my migration process because I have a letter that bears date before the transformation period. It is giving me a feeling to start everything from the SCRATCH; apply ACS assessment again with full fee and then state sponsorships again to lodge my application with DIAC; currently I have only ACS approval letter with ASCO code and IELTS result sheet, waiting for the state sponsorship result and not yet applied for the DIAC.
Your valuable input will help me to make my decision or set the direction.

Re: Confusion about ANZSCO Code
Hello Kaleem,
From the infromation provided there are a few ANZSCO codes that might apply to you. Perhaps 262113 Systems Administrator or 263111 Computer Network and Systems Engineer but these are both only on Sch 4 of the SOL. Ideally you want an occupation on Sch 3 of the SOL.
Feel free to email me a copy of your CV and I will assess your options.
Regards

Re: ACS during ASCO-ANZSCO transformation
Dear George,
I was am in category 2231-79 Computing Professional (NEC) Network Security. I applied on 9th Feb 10 to DIAC for 176 Class. MODL gone on 8th Feb 10. My occupation gone away on 1st July SOL List. I have submitted form80 and assigned with CO. What is the fate of my case. As the State says that your state sponsorship is valid till the decision of the case. Am I in the game or not ?

General comments on the new skills list and classifications:
a) There is no significant change for people who have already lodged permanent visa applications, people on existing 457 visas, people hoping to apply for employer sponsored permanent visas.
b) Equally, no significant changes for people who are state sponsored already, provided the visa application has been lodged. If not lodged, check that the sponsorship is still valid, and do so quickly.
c) IT people - ACS has advised that if your skills assessment was issued between 1 May and 30 June you can be reassessed under ANZSCO for free, but be careful that you have an occupation on the SOL ("Schedule 3) or State SOL ("Schedule 4") before you request that reassessment, and be prepared to justify the occupation you choose. Every existing ACS assessment needs to be reissued if it hasn't been linked to a visa application already, those issued before 1 May require an entirely new skills assessment application and fee. Also important for IT people to be aware that there are now a number of totally excluded IT occupations and at this stage the IT occupations being sponsored by states are unknown, so therefore only current SOL occupations are safe. This is going to be particularly hard on many specialists awarded MODL/CSL status under the previous SOL.
d) There is no "direct mapping" of ACS occupations from the old SOL to the new SOL or new State SOL.
Cheers,
George Lombard
